Milky Way Dream

This image of the Milky Way core taken in July 2023 includes the Dark Horse nebula in the lower right, examples of Perseid meteors, and air glow.
I traveled to my home state of Michigan, specifically to the upper peninsula small town of Copper Harbor then up to the top of nearby Brockway Mountain in the middle of the night to make this image before fog from Lake Superior obstructed my view.
An area at the base of the mountain is designated as an International Dark Sky area and that’s where I was staying at a log cabin resort. I liked the peacefulness at the top of the mountain where I was set up on the southwest corner with no one else around me.
It has been my lifelong dream to capture the Milky Way. And, I’m just getting started in this specialty area!
